TeamLab digital museum is one of the must visit places in Tokyo. There are two digital museums which are teamLab borderless and teamLab planet. I have been to both museums and they both are great places to visit for an amazing visual experience. This post I’m focusing on teamlab planet Toyosu and will be discussing my personal experiences.

How much is the ticket?

The ticket cost 3200yen for adults and I had the opportunity to visit with a discount which cost me 1800yen. Tickets can purchase online and it is advisable to buy online beforehand as there might be a chance to sell out quickly.

My experiences

Before entering the museum there are few things to follow because of the Covid-19 prevention. The staff will be checking body temperature and need to sanitize your hands. After that the staff will line up the visitors and they will explain the guidelines and how to enjoy the museum. Unfortunately it was all in Japanese.

Once we enter the museum we need to leave our shoes and bags inside the locker which will be free. The museum should be experienced in barefoot. We left our belongings inside the locker and hoped for a magical visual experience.

When you enter you will enter with a floor filled with water up to your ankle level. The pathways lead to the main visual experience spaces. We walked through slowly and entered The Infinite crystal universe visual experience. This is the major visual experience that teamLab uses for every museum space and I have been to teamLab borderless in Tokyo and Singapore as well. I love this visual experience. It is pretty cool how colors change and create a beautiful visual experience. The colors can change through your smartphone app and I did try to do it but it was not working for me.

After the infinite crystal universe experience we went to the next artwork which is drawing on the water surface created by the dancing koi fish and people. When you enter make sure to fold your jeans to above knee level as the water level is a bit high compared to other areas. The visual experience is pretty unique compared to other teamLab museums as you have the chance to walk around the surface of water where Koi fish swim. It's all digital but the experience is so unique and enjoyable.

Floating in the falling universe is the next visual experience where visitors sit or lie down and relax. It feels like your body is floating and dissolves into the artwork world. The visuals were displaying the seasonal flowers bloom and change with the time.

The last visual and physical experience was the free floating light. This was also an experience in a teamLab borderless museum in Tokyo as well. It's quite a playful area with balloons as you have the change to push and pull and play with balloons with the changing colors constantly.

After spending two hours and experiencing the visual exhibits twice I felt that the museum space was quite small compared to teamLab borderless. In my opinion I think teamLab borderless has so many activities and visual exhibits compared to teamLab planets. If someone has a short period of time to enjoy I recommend teamLab planet however I strongly recommend teamLab borderless for better experience.
