Who wouldn't like to catch a sunset overlooking Mountain Fuji. Well I decided to visit the most iconic mountain in Japan during winter vacation. Fuji san is located 100km away from Tokyo and can reach there by bus or train. I choose to travel there by bus as it's a cheaper and comfortable ride. I decided to stay in the Kawaguchiko area for two days to explore the area.

I took a bus early in the morning from Shinjuku bus terminal to go to Kawaguchiko station. The bus ticket cost me one way 2000 yen. Tickets can be purchased at highway bus Japan. After arriving at Kawaguchiko station I decided to have lunch near the restaurant. HOUTOU Food restaurant offers some homemade udon type noodles with local vegetables including mushrooms.

Soon after lunch I headed to Lake Kawaguchiko area to meet my Airbnb host as I promised him to meet there. I stayed in Urashima Peace & one ryokan bit far from the main city. I loved staying there because of the accommodation location, private onsen bath and worth the price.
That day my host recommended I go to Chureito Pagoda to check the sunset from the Pagoda. He dropped me on the way to the pagoda. I walked to the top of the pagoda it was quite tiring as I was wearing a thick winter jacket. After climbing a few steps I ended in an observatory area full with photographers waiting to capture the moment.

Next day evening I walked around Lake Kawaguchiko. Also walked around the area checking souvenir shops and local food. The Sweet graden was one of my favorite dessert shops near Lake Kawaguchiko. They serve cakes with coffee and it costs less than 500 yen.

There are so many places and things to do in the Mount Fuji area. Visiting Iyashi no Sato, Oshino Hakkai springs and Climbing Mount Fuji are some of the activities that can be done around the area. Because I went during the winter season I couldn't do much activities as it was very cold outside. Hoping to visit this area during Sakura season and maybe one day to climb Mount Fuji.
